Goodnight and Welcome Full Moon!

I hope I sleep well tonight and winds start blowing early morning! I am excitied to pull my boat out of the water and clean, scrape and paint the hull. I am also excited to attach the whisker pole. It will be such an asset to a good passage to French Polynesia.

Full moon will bode well for tomorrow’s crossing! Goodnight World!

Rolly night…

Bahia Salinas is a wide open bay but write-up said we would be protected from all but south wind. North westerlies are prevailing so we took a chance. We shouldn’t! I had a sleepless night! I wanted to leave first light so after coffee and new baked bread with fresh tomatoes, Sarantium motored out to find ZERO wind! I decided to go around the corner to another anchoreage and wait for wind.

Here is decent protection until the wind picks up… maybe I will play in the water until then….

A LOOOONG day with the engine on…

…. but stunning surrounding! And a bit of wind to sail maybe 20% of the time. Here are some shots of today’s journey!

Isla Santa Cruz
Isla San Diego

Arrived at our anchorage and dropped the anchor beside S/V Catharpin Blue (friends Julie and Kevin)

Grateful for yet another amazing day on the water…
Cloud cover is uncommon….

Some amazing snorkeling can be found around the tall rock above.

NOFOREIGNLAND

Noforeignland is a great website to follow my journey on a map! It is a website for sailors and a place to view all boats all over the world! I use this to find my sailing friends, see their photos, their recommendations for snorkel sites, beaches, anchoring details and some local knowledge. Follow me along by just typing in “Sarantium” and my boat will pop up in “realtime”! DO NOT click on “SV Sarantium” as it has never been used. I have tried to delete it, but no luck!

It is a good morning to ….

….to pull anchor, even though there is no wind! I feel a bit of get-there-itis as I have booked a haul out on February 17th. After coffee and müsli, and another hike up one of the summits with friends, Sarantium motored out in between Isla San Fransisco and Isla San Jose’. I waved good-bye to SV Tara and watched the superyacht “La Datcha” disappear behind us. “La Datcha” arrived early this morning and we watched this yacht’s two helicopters emerge from down below its’ pads. The floor of the heli-pad opened up and two helicopters emerged slowly, just like in a James Bond movie …..anyhow….. you get the picture so no need to post one! Water was blank and not a stitch of wind was present! Batteries will be happy to have the alternator charging to the max! Life on the water is bueatiful!

The further into this journey I get, the deeper I see into myself! I reflect on the years I spent in Canada and the more excited I get for the years to come while exploring the world by water! The rhythm of the waves, the smell of the sea, the sound of the winds and the sight of the mountains and its’ wildlife brings me inner calm!

We motored approx. 10 Nmiles and anchored in a place called San Evaristo. San Everisto is a small village which can only be reached by boat. Apperently, there are two stores here but it has very little fresh foods. Right after we anchored SV Cosmic Dancer arrived. We had met Angela (from Germany) and Nyle (from England) in our previous anchorage. They have been sailing around since 2011, but leave their Sweden Yacht sailing vessel here and there and return to Germany to work, which seems to be fairly typical amongst sailors.

Now it is time for some snorkling…. as the water is super clear!
