Attracting Hammerheads!

This lasted for almost 2 hours… an amazing community event. Thousands of people and families were all out to watch this parade. Families and business had decorated their vehicles, a whooping 280 vehicles, with Christmas lights, dressed up in Christmas themes, playing Christmas music, throwing goodie bags to children, old and young… creates togetherness amongst all people in communities. I have been noticing similar events every weekend throughout my stay here in La Paz. And on some level it’s reminded me of growing up in Sweden but of course different events and themes. One can go out on the streets and be part of something, not waiting at home to be invited to events… or creating events in your home…..togetherness to solidarity to culture! Something I’ve been reflecting on in the past few years, which may have contributed to leaving Nanaimo and search for other communities.

Regardless of themes, this creates community.
Hammerheads has been spotted here in the anchorage…🦈 apparently small ones.

I’ve been running the engine for the alternator to bring new batteries up to 100% and at the same time reading the volts and amps. … a new experience for me. another one😳

But I’m not clear on why the amp reading is not closer to zero yet….
I believe it’s just these new AGM Victron supercycle 160s… I looked up the specs and it seems their numbers for charging and floating are a bit different …they but feel free to give opinions!
I’m getting tired of learning AGAIN!
Time for a walk on the Malacon, to see the Christmas car parade and from one of the amazing icecream parlours!
As much as I would love to be sitting in a remote anchorage, diving, snorkeling, exploring and sipping on Margaritas .. I’m getting stuff done….

I’ve been working on battery set up and getting the boat ready for heading out to Isla Espiritus Santo… a couple of more days and it should be time to pull anchor again….can’t wait!
Below is what sailing looks like right now…
I’ve moved the two Victron Supercycle 160 (or 170?) 12 volt, to one side and added a third to the bank. The alternator ARCO Zues and the 760W solar panels are now feeding the battery bank. I’ve added a Victron inverter and battery charger as well. I should now be able to run my fridge and freezer for all the fish and seafood I’m planning to catch😆…. I’ve also traced and labeled a thousand wires, and torn out old wires. I hope I didn’t take out useful ones. The boat is a mess!

It’s been a busy few days. My friends from Nanaimo visited and we had so much fun seeing places, riding in the dessert, sampling foods in restaurants, snorkling with whale sharks and mantas, etc…. those whale sharks are pretty amazing, snacking only on plankton. We swam alongside a few different ones. A truly amazing day!!!!! I will post some videos once I figure out how to download them from my GoPro.

I’ve made a trip to the west coast to help a friend who unfortunately lost his sailing vessel (S/V Kittywake) after it hit the beach north of Bahia Santa Maria. He is safe and sound and will carry on with me during the holiday and in the sea of Cortez. Life on the Seven Seas continues…
